Academy of Comparative Migration Studies

The Academy of Comparative Migration Studies (ACOMIS) was opened in 2021 at the German Emigration Center, a non-university research and educational institution.

Educational Work of ACOMIS

The educational work of ACOMIS conveys the history and present of migration and integration for various target groups. Together with the German Emigration Center, different educational and mediation formats are created as “Lifelong Learning” offerings. The goal is to impart knowledge about migration history and to promote the exchange on social diversity.

Research of ACOMIS

The research of ACOMIS focuses on comparative migration studies with emphases in everyday life, emotions, and biography history, among others. The institute works interdisciplinarily with the collection and oral history archive of the German Emigration Center, but also in cooperation with university and non-university institutions domestically and internationally.
