Democracy Program
“Communication and Education in the Age of Triggers and Emotionalization”
Duration: 2025 – 2028
In a time of increasing societal polarization, the German Emigration Center examines how visitors view migration-related issues, where knowledge gaps exist, and how opinions are formed. The aim is to find ways in which informed knowledge transmission can support informed opinion formation.
With the program “Communication and Education in the Age of Triggers and Emotionalization,” the German Emigration Center will support, analyze, document, and further develop its existing democratic-promoting, intercultural educational work through a multi-year educational and research project. The results will be prepared for a professional audience at museums, schools, and universities, as well as for further training programs, alongside media dissemination. Additionally, within this framework, three major special exhibitions, a research program, and educational materials will be developed.
