Special exhibition “Temptation of Space”
Special Exhibition July 5, 2025 – January 7, 2026
Since time immemorial, the universe has captivated humanity. The first traces of this allure can be found in the Stone Age and continue to this day in art, history, and science. But what truly awaits us out there? Can we survive in space? And what does it mean for us as a species to travel to or even colonize distant planets? Can we prevent an uncontrolled race that leaves the cosmos and its treasures to a few powerful individuals?

The German Emigration Center invites you on an exciting journey through visions of science fiction literature and contemporary art, through current research findings and socio-political questions related to life on the Moon, Mars, and Venus. Together with experts from aerospace research, social sciences, literature, and art, we will take a longing yet critical look at the allure of the cosmos. For the first time, a migration museum addresses the question of space migration. Comparisons to historical emigration history show that many themes repeat themselves when seriously considering the colonization of distant planets. The exhibition brings together natural scientific, artistic, and humanities perspectives to explore humankind’s relationship with the universe.
A central element of the exhibition is theVoting Forum Space Migration, where guests can engage with the major questions of the exhibition and cast their votes. Young stargazers are introduced to the exhibition in a playful and creative way through an interactive course.Supported by:
