20 Years of the German Emigration Center
More than seven million people from all over Europe emigrated via Bremerhaven in the 19th and 20th centuries — mainly to the USA, but also to Australia, for example.
The German Emigration Center documents many thousands of life stories of emigrants. Visitors can research their own family’s history.
This first migration museum in Germany was opened exactly 20 years ago. How has the center changed to this day? And what plans are there for the future of the German Emigration Center?
