50 sites of the Nazi dictatorship
High school students are turning Bremerhaven into a lively library
On the “Day of City History,” students from the Carl von Ossietzky School Center in Bremerhaven transformed the city into a living library. At 50 stations throughout the city, they reported to other students and all interested parties about the roles certain places and biographies played during the Nazi dictatorship.

In the garage museum of the German Emigration Center, one could learn how the Jewish boy Eric Ahronheim managed to escape from Nazi Germany in 1939. Museum educator Astrid Bormann assisted the young city guides along with teachers and volunteer experts in preparing their presentation.
The “Day of City History” has been taking place since 2015 to commemorate the events of World War II. As an educational project, the memorial day is primarily aimed at students who want to trace the past of their city and pass on their knowledge to younger generations.
