After introductory remarks by Director Dr. Simone Blaschka, Heiner Behrens (Bremerhaven Development Corporation Old/New Port), and a discussion with architect Andreas Heller, artists Ari Benjamin Meyers and Cyrill Lachauer, as well as Dr. Christian Hamm from the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, the roughly 70 invited guests proceeded to the sound sculpture. Three large boulders have been lying between the two components on the harbor side of the migration museum for several days. Here, during the ceremonial opening on Friday afternoon – amidst the reverent listening of the guests, the circling examination, and tentative touching of the stones – the three-part composition of the sound sculpture could be heard for the first time.

“What does migration sound like?” was the question posed in the context of the second extension of the migration museum, where the two Berlin-based artists Cyrill Lachauer and Ari Benjamin Meyers were able to convince with their cooperative project of a sound sculpture. ‘Triad (Siren Songs)’ is now accessible to the public 24/7 and can be experienced.
