Background knowledge in uncertain times
Since February 24, 2022, much has been lost in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine: lives and places of remembrance, securities and certainties, and much more. The ongoing war, with its daily reports, hardly allows time for questions.
With its lecture and discussion series “LOST IN WAR.” the German Emigration Center, as a migration museum, provides background knowledge in a time of uncertainty. Through impulse lectures, discussion rounds, and a film screening on Ukrainian (migration) history, it sheds light on political, demographic, and social conflict topics and invites discussion: How are Ukrainian and German histories intertwined through migration and war? Which historical events and terms are (not) used for propaganda? Can we draw conclusions from the past for today’s actions?
