Verleihung des Bremer Diasporapreis 2024 Newsbild 1

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, the German Emigration Center was the host for the award ceremony of the ‘Bremer Diaspora Prize for Special Commitment to Sustainable Development in Bremen and a Better World.’

The prize has been awarded for several years to individuals (BIPOC) or migrant-diaspora organizations that promote an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable society. Health and education, poverty alleviation, equality, or sustainable agriculture and healthy nutrition are just a few of the topics that the projects in Bremen or in countries of the Global South address.

The awards were given in 2024 in the categories

  • People & Peace — social and solidarity-based action

  • Planet — living ecologically and sustainably

  • Prosperity — innovating economically

  • Partnership — collaborating across borders

  • Port of Solidarity

awarded.

After a guided tour through the museum and opportunities for encounters and exchange, the awards were ceremoniously presented in the Kalliope Hall of the ACOMIS by well-known actors from politics and society, and the awardees were appropriately celebrated together.
