Opening of the new special exhibition ‘… a little different, but just the same.’

In beautiful sunny weather, we were able to open our new special and traveling exhibition ‘… a little different, but just the same.’ on Cuban-German history in East and West Germany. Among the invited guests, we were pleased to welcome some of the individuals who have shared their very personal life stories with us. They told us about love and friendship, historical events, and their experiences with systemic change and racism while we prepared the exhibition.

Many of them went from Cuba to East Germany for work, study, or training. They and their descendants became witnesses of history and part of the vibrant German narrative in everyday life in East Germany and during the time of change until today. Excerpts from their interviews, memory objects, and individually crafted biographical texts are now on display until February 28, 2023, in the new special exhibition ‘… a little different, but just the same.’
