Offers for children and families

As a family-friendly museum, the Deutsches Auswandererhaus invites both grown-ups and children to discover and experience history together. With two different family passes, the Deutsches Auswandererhaus offers attractive ticket options for families.
Children receive a free quiz at the museum and can playfully explore the permanent exhibition together with Ship Rat Paul. Challenging questions and small puzzles accompany them from room to room. Those who complete all the tasks receive a small gift at the end of the tour. The children’s quiz is available for free at the museum ticket desk.
Regular tours for families are offered during holiday periods: The family tour invites (grand)parents and children up to 12 years old to trace the paths of emigrants from Germany to New York together.
The adventure tour by lantern light provides families with a particularly exciting experience: In the evening, they explore the museum by lantern light and accompany a night watchman on his rounds.
Both one-hour offerings are exclusively aimed at families and convey history playfully, interactively, and age-appropriately. Please refer to the event calendar for dates.
“Being smart is fun! Young researchers on a time travel adventure in the museum”
The birthday kid and their guests (ages 7 to 12) embark on an exciting journey through the museum in order to solve the riddle of a mysterious suitcase. Together they experience what it meant to emigrate in the 19th century, stepping into the role of real researchers. Will they succeed in deciphering the hidden clues and secret messages? At the end, a small surprise awaits them in the museum shop.
