Letter to the German Radio Hour, 1957
Bob Munstedt, the author of the letter, is born in Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century. In school, he speaks German, and at home with his family, they speak the Swiss dialect. At the age of 13, he emigrates to the USA with his family. Together, the Munstedt family moves to Massachusetts. He keeps in touch with relatives in Europe through letters. In September 1957, he first hears the radio program of the ‘American Association of Teachers of German’ (AATG). He is so excited to hear the German language again after a long time that he writes a thank-you letter to Lorley Mabry, the radio announcer.
