Numerous audio stations are integrated into the exhibitions, which you can activate with your admission ticket. Therefore, purchasing an additional audio guide is not necessary. The audio stations are available in German and English. Please indicate at the time of ticket purchase in which language you would like to experience the museum tour.
We cannot take on individual research requests. However, during the tour, you have the opportunity to search for emigrated ancestors in external databases. Research is included in the admission and accessible during regular opening hours. Further information can be found here.

Photography and filming in the German Emigration Center is permitted without flash and exclusively for private purposes only upon payment of a photo protection fee of 1.50 €. Flash, additional lighting, tripods, selfie sticks, and other setups are not allowed. The distribution to third parties and commercial use of the image material is prohibited.
For commercial or editorial photo, film, and audio recordings, written permission from the German Emigration Center is required. Please contact our press department in advance of your visit: presse@dah-bremerhaven.de

Bags and backpacks larger than standard hand or waist bags (approximately A5 size or 20 x 15 cm), which cannot be worn on the body, are not allowed in the exhibition for safety reasons.You will find lockers in the entrance area that require a 1- or 2-Euro coin. Alternatively, you can also leave your bag or backpack free of charge at the cash desk.

Our exhibition areas, especially the listening stations, are cleaned and disinfected several times a day. Instead of the headphones provided in the exhibition, you can also use your own devices with a 3.5mm jack. Alternatively, you can purchase headphones for 3.00 € at the cash desk.

At the audio stations in the exhibition, we provide headphones that are disinfected multiple times daily. Instead of the provided headphones, you can also use your own devices with a 3.5mm jack. Alternatively, you have the option to purchase headphones for €3.00 at our museum ticket counter.
Our museum restaurant and café Speisesaal offers a selection of dishes inspired by various national cuisines, as well as homemade cakes. The meals are prepared fresh from seasonal, regional, and ecologically responsibly produced ingredients. Your exhibition tour can be interrupted at any time for a visit to the ‘Speisesaal’ and then continued afterward. The Speisesaal and the terrace are accessible without an entry ticket during opening hours.Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and by appointment. Our museum shop offers a selection of regional products, stationery, accessories, and gift items. You will find a carefully selected range of novels and books on history, migration, and social issues. Sustainable products from the region are also part of the assortment. You can visit the shop at any time during museum opening hours – even without an entry ticket.
Unfortunately, bringing animals into the exhibition is not permitted. Exceptions are made for trained guide dogs and other assistance dogs. The supervision of a dog is possible from Monday to Friday by arrangement. Due to limited capacity, there is no guarantee for this.
