Research projects

Migration is shaped by personal memories. Finding forms of storytelling is the task of the German Emigration Center. The museum collects individual stories in one of the most significant museum collections on migration history and simultaneously explores how these can be communicated in ways that make migration visible and tangible from different perspectives. Collection, historical research, and communication are closely intertwined. In an age of information overload and fake news, the center provides orientation, imparts knowledge, and creates space for exchange. Thus, the German Emigration Center sees itself as an educational actor that strengthens democratic values and encourages engagement with migration.
