Eligibility to participate
By participating in the contest, participants accept the terms and conditions. Participation in the contest is independent of the purchase of goods or services from the Deutsche Auswandererhaus.
Eligibility is granted to individuals who are at least 18 years old at the time of participation and have their residence in Germany. Employees of the Deutsche Auswandererhaus are excluded from participation.
Exclusion
The contest is not supported by Facebook, Instagram, or Meta and is not affiliated with Facebook, Instagram, or Meta. Participants hold Facebook, Instagram, and Meta harmless from any liability.
Participation in the contest
Participation takes place via email at presse@dah-bremerhaven.de and the social mediahttps://www.instagram.com/deutsches.auswandererhaus/andhttps://www.facebook.com/auswandererhaus/
To participate, participants must:
Complete the sentence “Museums matter to me because…”in a meaningful, brief contribution (ideally no more than one or two sentences) and reflect on their personal connection with museums. The contribution or text can be personal, anecdotal, or shaped by societal issues. This can be done in the above-mentioned forms as a comment under the action post or in an email.
The German Emigration Center reserves the right not to include offensive or discriminatory contributions (see Netiquette) in the draw and to remove them promptly from its platforms, if they contradict the values of the house, the German Museum Association, ICOM International, and a free democratic basic order.
Multiple entries are not allowed. Multiple comments will be counted as one entry.
Participation Period
The competition runs from April 7 to May 3, 2026.The competition ends at the end of this period.
Prize
Among all valid entries, the following prizes will be drawn:
- 20 x 2 tickets for the permanent exhibition of the German Emigration Center, valid on International Museum Day, May 17, 2026
Not included are travel to and from the venue, meals, or any other personal expenses.
The prize is non-transferable, excluded from exchange, and cannot be paid out in cash.
Winner Determination and Notification
Winners will be selected randomly from all comments and contributions after the end of the competition and will be informed via the social platform or the email provided for submission. In the contact, additional contact details may be requested for inclusion in the guest list or formal inquiries.
Redemption of the Prize
Winners will be listed internally at the cash register, which serves solely to verify the winners on-site.
Data Protection
The personal data collected as part of the contest will exclusively be used for conducting the contest (e.g., determining winners, notifying them, and sharing information with the involved service providers) and will be deleted after the conclusion of the contest and the International Museum Day 2026, unless there are legal retention obligations. Otherwise, the regulations of the Privacy Policy of the German Emigration Center in its currently valid form apply. The German Emigration Center is responsible for processing the personal data.
By participating, the participants consent to their contributions, regardless of whether sent via email or comment, being published and disseminated in sufficiently anonymized form during the Museum Day in the museum, on the website dah-bremerhaven.de, and on the aforementioned social media platforms by the museum.
The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR.
Legal exclusion & liability
The organizer reserves the right to change, suspend, or terminate the contest at any time for important reasons, especially in the case of technical issues or legal reasons.
Legal recourse is excluded.
The organizer is not liable for technical disruptions, particularly outages of the network, electronics, or website.
The terms and conditions are exclusively governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.
