We appreciate your interest in our contest and want you to feel secure regarding the protection of your personal data. We take the protection of your personal data seriously. Compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Federal Data Protection Act is a matter of course for us.

Collected and processed personal data

To process the contest, we only collect the following data from you:

1.       Participation in the contest

  • Name, First Name
  • Comments on photos 

2.       Winner determination:

  • Name, First Name

Purpose of use and legal basis for processing personal data

We process personal data based on the GDPR as follows:
To carry out a contest (Art. 6 par. 1 lit. b GDPR)

When you provide us with your personal data as a participant in a contest, we process it for verifying eligibility, determining and notifying the winner, disbursing the prize, and publishing the winner. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 par. 1 lit. b GDPR.

Consent (Art. 6 par. 1 lit. a GDPR)

As far as you have given us consent for the processing of personal data for specific purposes (e.g., for receiving advertisements or an email newsletter), the legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. We will then only process your data for the purposes explicitly mentioned in the consent.

Retention period of personal data

Once the business purpose of conducting the lottery is fulfilled and you have not been identified as a winner, we will delete your data within one month after the conclusion of the lottery. If you are identified as a winner, legal retention periods regarding your personal data apply. According to § 147(1) of the Fiscal Code (AO), the retention period for accounting documents is 10 years, and according to § 257(1) of the Commercial Code (HGB), the retention period for business documents is 6 years.

Transfer of personal data

Your data will be passed on to third parties in connection with the lottery if it is required for the execution of the lottery or the payment of the prize, and if there is a legal transmission authority under data protection law. Due to the aforementioned reasons, we are entitled to forward data to technical service providers, shipping service providers, and banking institutions. The transfer is based on Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. The data transferred may only be used by the third party for the stated purposes. There will be no transmission of your personal data to third parties for purposes other than those listed.

Data transmission to third countries

There will be no transmission of your personal data to third countries.

Automated decision-making

No automated decision-making processes are applied in the context of the lottery.

Rights of the data subjects 

We provide you with information upon request at any time regarding whether and which personal data we collect and process about you, as well as for what purposes (according to Art. 15 GDPR). Furthermore, you have the right to rectification (according to Art. 16 GDPR), the right to restriction of processing (according to Art. 18 GDPR), the right to deletion (according to Art. 17 GDPR), and the right to object (according to Art. 21 GDPR), as well as the right to data portability (according to Art. 20 GDPR) within the respective legal framework.

You can also assert your right to complain to the competent supervisory authority at any time. This applies as soon as you believe that the processing of your collected personal data violates applicable data protection regulations (according to Art. 77 GDPR).

You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. You can express the revocation by sending an email to presse@dah-bremerhaven.de or by sending a message to the contact details provided in the imprint.

Participation conditions

1. The organizer of the raffle is the Deutsche Auswandererhaus gGmbH (short: DAH), Columbusstraße 65, 27568 Bremerhaven. All questions, comments, or complaints regarding the raffle should be directed to DAH (presse@dah-bremerhaven.de).

2. The raffle is not sponsored by Instagram or Facebook and is in no way affiliated with Instagram or Facebook. Participants release Instagram or Facebook from any liability.

3. By participating in the raffle, participants accept these participation conditions. Participation in the raffle is independent of the purchase of goods or services from DAH.

4. Eligible participants are individuals who are at least 18 years old at the time of participation. Employees of DAH are excluded from participation.

5. To participate in the contest, a comment must be made on the post on the Instagram account “deutsches.auswandererhaus” or the Facebook account “Deutsches Auswandererhaus Bremerhaven.” Each person is allowed to enter the raffle only once.

6. Participants give their explicit permission for the DAH to publish the names of the winners on the Instagram page “deutsches.auswandererhaus” or the Facebook page “Deutsches Auswandererhaus Bremerhaven.” This permission can be revoked at any time in writing to the DAH via email at presse@dah-bremerhaven.de. Revoking permission to publish the name does not affect participation in the contest.

7. Participation is possible from August 8, 2024 (starting from the publication of the post) until August 12, 2024, at 9 AM. The contest ends at the end of this period.

8. The winner will be determined from all participants by commenting on the posts on Instagram “deutsches.auswandererhaus” or Facebook “Deutsches Auswandererhaus Bremerhaven” and must contact via direct message. If the winner does not respond within three days to the win notification, the prize will be forfeited without compensation, and a replacement winner will be determined in the same manner.

9. The prize includes 2 free tickets for the Deutsches Auswandererhaus per channel. These must be redeemed within three years.

10. The prize cannot be paid out in cash.

11. The DAH reserves the right to cancel or terminate the contest due to unforeseen circumstances without prior notice. This applies particularly if the contest cannot proceed as intended, for example, due to errors in software or hardware and/or for other technical and/or legal reasons that affect the regular and proper conduct of the raffle.

12. The data provided by participants in the contest (first and last name, date of birth, address, email address and/or mobile number) will be stored by the DAH exclusively for the purpose of conducting this contest and will subsequently be deleted.

13. Legal recourse is excluded.

14. The terms and conditions are subject exclusively to the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.
